Wishing Dave and Carol May a Happy 31st Anniversary

We've already talked a bit about anniversaries on the blog. And although there's not a gift prescribed for the 31 year mark (they go from five-year intervals to decades between gifts as you get further into marriage, sort of backwards if you ask me) we think 31 years is worth making a fuss over.

So to Mr. and Mrs. David and Carol May... Mom and Dad...

Congratulations! 31 YEARS TOGETHER. We don't know how you've made it, exactly, but we couldn't imagine you apart.

It's been more than three decades since that Memorial Day Weekend in 1984 that you got hitched. What you were thinking, Mom, with those crazy sleeves on that dress we will never know. But thank god Dad's participation didn't hinge on '70s fashion (hello mustache!)

All of our lives have taken us to places that we never dreamed of and couldn't imagine. A lot has happened since the night you met dancing on milk crates in Rolla, that's for sure.

There have been so many great memories, we don't know where to start. Without "Carol's Pre-School of Engineering" who knows what we would have grown up to be. Without all of the sports games (and those endless carpools), we wouldn't have learned the power of teamwork.

It was sad that Dad couldn't be there for every little moment because of his years of endless travel. But then again, how would we ever survive without those frequent flyer miles?

The Branson timeshare still pushes us to go on a family trip each year, although the destinations have gotten a little more glamorous thanks to Carol's bartering skills.

Though we've probably never said it enough, thank you! You have no idea the impact you've made on our lives. You've been our biggest role models, biggest fans, and best critics. You've pushed us to think outside the box and be the people that only you probably knew were within us. You always believed (and still do) that we can be anything that we want to be when we "finally grow up."  Without you, we'd be lost.

We love you, Mom and Dad.  Happy Anniversary. This isn't written down anywhere, but we think the 31st wedding gift ought to be a Mule (the Kawasaki kind.) The Bobcat© needs a friend.
